Background
Wanting to produce some engaging web content in partnership with the Carlton Football Club, Hyundai approached the internal creative team to pitch a concept that would showcase their vehicle range whilst tapping the insatiable appetite of the Blues fanbase for player stories.
Idea
Our internal creative team pitched a web series helmed by comedian Sam Pang, in which Carlton FC players would take him for a drive in the latest Hyundai cars. Sam interviewed modern players as well as his beloved 70s and 80s Carlton stars.
We were able to keep a focus on the amazing stories of the players and would often end up in faraway suburbs, visiting childhood football grounds and famous nightclubs.
Impact
The show was so successful we were able to pitch for a series of episodes in Western Australia and a special edition filmed in Provence, France. I travelled with Sam and our producer to France to film Carlton Premiership coach and player Robert Walls in his new international homebase.
